Silicon Metal Company of Australia
Community
It's people and where we work and live that makes Simcoa unique
OUR APPROACH
Simcoa's responsibilities and interests are far from limited to the confines of our site. Building meaningful relationships with local businesses, schools, community organisations and our neighbours is of tremendous value to us. Not only are we considerably fortunate to operate in the spectacularly beautiful south west corner of the state of Western Australia, but the region has incredible depth of community spirit and cultural and social diversity. Our ability to contribute to and support this community is a highlight of our business.

Simcoa is one of a small number of private enterprises directly employing more than 175 people (not including site-based contractors). We also support local business in our purchasing practices and also in the employment of local contracting services. This creates indirect employment for more than 600 people in the region.

It is not only in the regional community that Simcoa has an active role. Further afield Simcoa has an important role in the Australian economy. Australia, having once been a net importer of silicon, is now fully self sufficient in this strategic metal.
SOCIAL INVESTMENT
Simcoa enjoys its participation in many community based programs, events or fundraisers. We make it our policy to provide opportunity for community non-profit organisations, groups, clubs etc to apply for funding support. Our sponsorship in the community continues to grow. Emphasis is placed on supporting projects, activities and events that contribute to the growth and enrichment of the youth in our community.
